First Mile is delighted to announce our partnership with The Felix Project to help our customers to reduce their food waste and help those most in need.
The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. They work with the food industry to rescue high quality surplus food, which is then redistributed to over 1,200 community organisations, such as food banks, homeless shelters and primary schools, all of whom are working within communities across London to feed people experiencing hunger.
They can accept one-off and regular donations including frozen food, unpicked produce and that with super-short shelf-life. In truth, they pick up almost anything.
To hear more contact our customer success team via the form to discuss a food waste reduction strategy and becoming a supplier for The Felix Project.

For small (under 500kg) one-off donations please submit an offer to the Felix Connect Scheme. This service is ideal for independent cafés, restaurants and hospitality businesses.
-
Submit a donation request online by clicking the Felix Connect Scheme link on on their supplier form.
-
Felix reviews your donation and arranges a pick-up, often within 24–48 hours.
-
They collect the food using refrigerated vans if needed, ensuring safety and compliance.
-
Your donation is logged and tracked, so you can report on impact and waste reduction.

The Felix Project partners with a number of major retailers to rescue surplus food and support those facing food insecurity. One of their long-standing partners is Ocado, who have been a key supplier since before the pandemic. To date, they’ve donated the equivalent of over 6 million meals.
Abbie Mines, Food Waste and Communities Manager at Ocado Retail, explains:
“Ocado gives a variety of really good, healthy food to The Felix Project because we’re passionate about supporting health and nutrition. We donate for two main reasons: to reduce food waste — one of our key sustainability commitments, aiming to halve food waste by 2030 — and to help alleviate food insecurity, which is at the heart of our charitable efforts. The Felix Project excels at reaching those who need it most.”
